What Indian Muslims Should Expect

Over the last few years since the return of hindutva government in power we have seen gradual shift in the media and political dispensation towards the right. So in reality what was left has now become the center and what was right has become the far right. As we saw recently in Gujarat elections Rahul Gandhi’s shirt came off and his Janev Dhari persona was projected come election 2019 and his trousers may come off and he would don RSS khaki nicker if he thinks he would get political benefit out of it. Muslims should realize that they cant outsource their problems their leadership and their future in the hands of others.

70 Years back Muslims had great capable leaders like Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, today they have negligible representation in politics, there is no leader worth his stature no role models there is no group organization or party which is really bothered about or planning for the future of Muslims. Against this backdrop the Muslim youth are confused &  demoralized they don’t know how to react with the barrage of criticism and hate-mongering against Muslims & Islam recently, they lack suitable employment opportunities, they are being harassed, they are being marginalized they are being insulted they are being overlooked. If we compare the current period with history of last 70 years after independence then the situation is worse than ever before.

It is true that if we have to chose between Congress and BJP then Congress is a lesser evil however both have ignored the aspiration of Muslims and the former has used Muslims as mere vote banks, only remembering them before elections while latter has realized that they can do without Muslim vote considering Hindus form 80% of population. The question that arises is why are Muslims in this present state of affairs where they have become almost like a dead community living life aimlessly lacking motivation and purpose where they have no excuse left apart from blaming fate for their present state:

Qoum Mazhab Se Hai, Mazhab Jo Nahin, Tum Bhi Nahin
Jazb-e-Baham Jo Nahin, Mehfil-e-Anjum Bhi Nahin

Unto a nation faith is life, You lost your faith and fell,
When gravitation fails, must cease concourse celestial.

Jin Ko Ata Nahin Dunya Mein Koi Fann, Tum Ho
Nahin Jis Qoum Ko Parwaye Nasheman, Tum Ho

You love your homes the least among the nations of the earth,
You are the most incompetent in knowledge and in worth;

Bijliyan Jis Mein Hon Aasudah, Woh Khirman Tum Ho
Baich Khate Hain Jo Aslaaf Ke Madfan, Tum Ho

You are a barn where lightning stays, where ruin idle lies,
Ancestral coffins long entombed your only merchandise;

Ho Niko Naam Jo Qabaron Ki Tajarat Kar Ke
Kya Na Baicho Ge Jo Mil Jaen Sanam Pathar Ke

In turning graves to profit, you have proved yourselves adept;
Should idol‐trading offer gain of course you would accept.

There is need to change the current situation and to start with the first thing Muslims should do is to stop trusting these politicians for a change and start believing in themselves. They need to start taking initiatives in direction of developing themselves as individuals and as society in all spheres of life s that they can be considered in history as an ALIVE

Wuhi Jahan hai tira jis ko tu kare paida
Yeh sang-o-khisht naheen jo tiree nigah men hai.

Your world is (only) the one which you create yourself; Not these stones and bricks, which are in sight.

Ma Siwa Allah Ke Liye Aag Hai Takbeer Teri
Tu Musalman Ho To Taqdeer Hai Tadbeer Teri

All else but God is at your feet, If sounds your Takbeer great;
If you a Muslim truly are, Your effort is your fate.

Afrad Ke Hathon Mein Hai Aqwam Ki Taqdeer
Har Fard Hai Millat Ke Muqaddar Ka Sitara.

Fortunes of States through individual prowess ripen; Each man one star of their ascendant (Destiny).

Na Rahe Sitare Ki Gardish Na Bazi-e-Aflak
Khudi Ki Mout Hai Tera Zawal-e-Naimat-o-Jah

When you lose self hood, you lose power, too;
Blame not the stars and fate for your fall.

They need to go back to their roots, and it starts with believing in god almighty as is required, correcting their belief, and purification of heart and soul by doing righteous actions and preserving our culture and heritage without which all progress would be meaningless again quoting Allama Iqbal Rahimullah:

Deen Hath Se De Kar Agar Azad Ho Millat
Hai Aesi Tajarat Mein Musalman Ka Khasara

Also important  is to have unity and distancing from the causes which lead to enmity, hatred, splitting up and dissension. Muslims should put into effect what the Messenger of Allaah – sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam – informed us of regarding the believers:Like a building, some of its parts supporting others.’; And that they are: ‘Like a single body if one limb complains then the rest of the body suffers with fever and insomnia.’

Firqa Bandi Hai Kahin, Aur Kahin Zaatain Hain
Kya Zamane Mein Panapne Ki Yehi Baatain Hain?

You split yourselves in countless sects, In classes high and low;
Think you the world its gifts will still on such as you bestow?

Yun To Syed Bhi Ho, Mirza Bhi Ho, Afghan Bhi Ho
Tum Sabhi Kuch Ho, Batao To Musalman Bhi Ho!

You are known as Syed, and Mughal, you call yourselves Pathan;
But can you truly claim as well the name of Mussalman?

Harm-e-Paak Bhi, Allah Bhi, Quran Bhi Aik,
Kuch Bari Baat Thi Hote Jo Musalmaan Bhi Aik!

And one your Kaʹba, One your God, and one your great Quran;
Yet, still, divided each from each, Lives every Mussalman.

If Muslims start rectifying themselves through purification and education and by following the way as show by our salafs then they can surely expect help from Allah :

Hum Tau Mayal Ba-Karam Hain, Koi Sayal Hi Nahin
Rah Dikhlaen Kise Rahraw-e-Manzil Hi Nahin

Behold, my hands arc full of gifts, but who comes seeking here?
And how shall I the right road shew when there’s no traveller?

I would like to end this article with this inspirational sher once again from Allama Iqbal:
